Set in Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park in North Wales, Betws-y-Coed (meaning ‘The Prayer House in the Trees) is a picturesque village, surrounded by woodlands, lakes and forests in an area of outstanding natural beauty where the rivers Conwy, Llugwy and Lledr meet. Betws-y-Coed is a busy village that whilst retaining its rural charm, offers pubs, restaurants and shopping facilities ranging from souvenirs, art, crafts, speciality foods, walking and climbing equipment.

The area around Betws-y-Coed appeals especially to walkers, there are numerous walks and forest trails both locally within Gwydyr Forest and further afield to suit all capabilities. This part of Snowdonia also appeals to, climbers, naturalists, photographers, artists and anglers, train enthusiasts and horse riders. Mountain bikes can be hired from the village as we have the great ‘Marin’ mountain bike trail in the forest, and there is also a 9-hole golf course in Betws-y-Coed with an additional six courses within 30 to 40 minutes drive. For thrill seekers, Go Below Underground Adventures, Surf Snowdonia and ZipWorld are near by.
Throughout the area (as in our house) you will hear the Welsh language spoken, and during the summer, Welsh choirs are at hand to entertain. The area is steeped in history and culture with many of the finest castles and fortresses within easy reach.
Both Pengwern Country House bed and breakfast accommodation, and The Studio self catering accommodation are perfect bases for exploring Snowdonia and the rest of North Wales.
